
Here’s how to check your filer status online in Pakistan:
Method 1: Using the FBR’s Online Verification System
- Visit the FBR’s Online Verification System website: https://e.fbr.gov.pk/esbn/
- Select the “Taxpayer Profile Inquiry” option.
- Enter your National Tax Number (NTN) or Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number in the designated field.
- Click the “Verify” button.
Your filer status will be displayed on the screen. If you are a filer, it will say “Active Taxpayer”. If you are not a filer, it will say “Non-Filer”.
Method 2: Checking the Active Taxpayer List
- Visit the FBR’s Active Taxpayer List webpage: https://e.fbr.gov.pk/ATLSearchUtilityIT.aspx
- Select the type of taxpayer list you want to check (Income Tax, Sales Tax, or AJK).
- Enter your NTN, CNIC, or Registration Number in the designated field.
- Click the “Search” button.
Your name will be displayed on the list if you are a filer.
Method 3: Sending an SMS
- For individuals: Type “ATL (space) 13 digits Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC)” and send to 9966.
- For companies and AOPs: Type “ATL (space) 7 digits National Tax Number (NTN)” and send to 9966.
You will receive an SMS reply with your filer status.
How to Become a Filer in Pakistan
To become a filer in Pakistan, you need to register for an NTN if you don’t already have one. You can do this online through the FBR’s IRIS system or by visiting an FBR office. Once you have an NTN, you need to file your income tax returns annually.
